The main upstairs bedroom used to be a hayloft and, long before that, a room where silk was made. The small fireplaces which you can see in the corners were used to keep the room warm in winter. (They are no longer used - heating if needed is electric.)
The bedroom gives wonderful views over the meadow, with another window opposite making the room airy even in the heat of the summer.
The bed is a good quality modern king-sized divan-type bed. The fine ornate headboard is restored side-piece from an antique bed. People have got longer since it was made!
Some of the furnishings in the bedroom are antiques from the UK including a large double wardrobe. However the two little pot-cupboards adapted as bedside tables are French, complete with 1920's spelter bird-motif reading lights.
