The living room is a lovely light airy room with a window giving views over the valley and its own door to the garden with a small sunny terrace outside. It is also wonderfully snug out of season, with a large wood-burning stove giving masses of heat.
The HD TV offers BBC, ITV and all other all free-to-air UK and French TV channels, plus radio. There is a Blue-ray player with a collection of DVDs for both children and adults, an iPod docking station and also a Brennan 'Juke Box' with many hundreds of recorded classical and pop albums. All of these sources can be played through a good-quality audio system.
There is a large collection of books as well as numerous maps and guides. You'll also find our own comprehensive notes on the local area, restaurants, sights, nature, walks etc - which visitors regularly report as the best they have ever found in a holiday home. There are also board games, packs of cards and so on. (Upstairs there are some toys for younger children.)
There is high speed internet at the house (we
have line of sight access to a 4G local transmitter) with a good
wifi signal for your electronics. Currently the provision is
capped, which means visitors must limit their use to 15Gb per
week. That's a lot but does not support use of Netflix, iPlayer
and other similar data-heavy resources.
Note, January 2019. We have changed this room
substantially over the last year or so, but have not taken new
photos. The essential character of the room has not altered, but
the ceiling has been strippped, the flooring replaced with light
chestnut and the walls repainted. The stove, fireplace and sofas
are all new too, the big 'armoire' has gone upstairs and there's
a bigger (but not huge) TV. Overall the room has a much lighter,
airier and more spacious feel to it
